Stealing to feed your family unit - is it correct or wrong?

It really depends. Each situation varies. 1 starving man stealing from another starving man or a starving man stealing from a dumpster... each example has information technology's own set of bug and things to consider. To steal is wrong, even to sustain life. Just we view life as more important than a few loaves of bread, so information technology is justified, for the fourth dimension being. In that location are easier ways to feed a family unit than to steal. State aid, nutrient kitchens, applying for employment, selling things that are not needed or undesired... etc.

At that place is welfare, food stamps and nutrient banks. There isn't a justification for stealing. Someone else earned and owns what your stealing.

Stealing is always wrong, I think; but in that location tin be mitigating circumstances.  (If there weren't such a thing as "mitigating circumstances" courts wouldn't gene information technology into some cases.)

In the United states of america, I tin't encounter also many circumstances that would mean a parent had no choice but steal in lodge to fee his/her kid/ren.  Every bit someone else pointed out, at that place are food stamps and other programs, and many programs are specifically designed for parents who have pocket-sized children in their intendance.  There are as well nutrient banks, charity from churches and church organizations, and sometimes programs run by private outfits.

In a conversation I in one case had from a man in Republic of india, though, the human said someone there with no job and no income and no help from family could have trivial (no) choice but to steal or beg.

So, I suppose where someone lives makes a divergence.

I have always been taught to put my family first. I could never run across this as beingness wrong. Times are getting so tough that if information technology came down to it I would be "all in".

In Western cultures stealing is e'er seen every bit morally wrong, perhaps because we live in a materialist society softened past a liberal benefits organisation.  I recall that this attitude can frequently exist slightly hypocritical, though.  How many of the states would help ourselves to a canvas of printer paper in someone'south office, or a pencil?  Just would, at the aforementioned time, abhor someone taking food from us?

In other cultures, feeding 1'due south family is seen as the number i responsibility for whatever parent.  Since most people don't own anything worth having in any instance, stealing is not seen as morally incorrect if it is necessary to go on ane's family alive. For instance, I lived for a while in Tanzania, East Africa.  In that location are many tribes in that state who hold stealing as a upper-case letter offence.  If one of their number steals from another and is caught, he (it is always a he) will be 'necklaced', ie have a motorcar tire placed around his neck and set on fire.

All the same, if the aforementioned man had stolen from a foreigner like me - by local definition, a 'rich human' - then that would be considered perfectly acceptable if it were to feed his family.  And I could sympathise entirely with this bespeak of view, fifty-fifty every bit a victim.

Equally always, a moral dilemma not hands resolved.

Stealing, technically is incorrect. But if my kids, family or my dogs were starving, I wouldn't care about the ethics - I would steal from those who seem to accept enough to do themselves and mine. I'd worry nearly the consequences later.

Stealing is wrong.  I think I'd beg for nutrient earlier I steal.  I think you lot should be able to negotiate with someone regarding food.  Even in places where there is no social security.

If your starving you accept to eat merely it depends. If your starving in yous are stealing from a multibillion corporation with CEOs who own three yachts and 5 different homes, etc I would have problem feeling bad for them. If you are starving and steal a morsel of food from some other already starving person you should take a look in the mirror because something is incorrect with yous. Pulling a Robin Hood is good stealing from your brother is heinous.

The deed of theft is wrong..........

Stealing to feed your family unit, is understandable, excusable, but not without punishment.

The OT, fifty-fifty tells us this.

If you are caught stealing 'grain', you are to repay 7fold.  It also says , to get out something in the field for the " gleaming".

Having said this:  now, let me say this,

There is NO reason ( in the USofA) to steal food.......there are numerous outreach, nether the span, Fridays at the fairway, programs, in add-on to the
revenue enhancement payer nutrient stamp program.

There are MILLIONS of next door neighbors, who would " ready an extra plate at supper".........

If your child in the USofA, is hungry..........it is because, y'all waited too long to eat your pride and ask for help.

Stealing, is non an affordable option here. Not for nutrient.

It is always wrong in the optics of GOD, But I think many people around the world do thi because of poverty...................................

Stealing is wrong, ask offset. The if no one is willing to assistance practise what ou demand to do.  There are may programs in thsi state that could help, many churches, temples food banks etc.  I would go at that place outset.
